I have had and gone through many vacuums however the current one that I has proven to be fabulous! Eureka 437AZ Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum is a great little vacuum at a great price. I got mine for $45 on sale at Amazon. I love how the handle goes down making it more compact and also more easily accessible. It is also very light so if you are travelling up and down the stairs it really helps out. The only thing I do not like is how you have to empty the dirt. The canister is easy to get off the vacuum but very hard to open and then put on again. Ad when you do open it if you have a lot of dirt and dust in there it always ends up getting everywhere. And the filter on the inside is always full of dust that you have to pick off when you are cleaning it. That is a bit of a pain to do. However, this is a powerful little vacuum - it really does pick up - I never have to run over things more than once and it never leaves things behind. I would like to see a longer cord with this vacuum though. With that all said though - I would recommend this vacuum to people.
